Tunings of the ukulele
The ukulele has three main types of tuning depending on the size of the ukulele. The "C" Tuning, the "G" Tuning and the "D" Tuning. By tightening the string, the pitch will become higher and when you losen the string, the pitch will be lower. By tightening and loosening the string, you will try to tune the two pitches to sound the same, when they are, they will be in tune.
The "C" Tuning
This is the most common tuning for most ukuleles but mainly for the sopranos, concert and the tenor types. The strings are tuned gCEA. The g is sometimes tuned as a Low G, this ~~~
The "G" Tuning
This tuning is mainly used for tenor and baritone ukuleles. The strings are tuned as DGBE so the chords of the ukuleles would be differently played from the "C" Tuning and the "D" Tuning.
The "D" Tuning
The "D" Tuning is just one step higher than the "C" Tuning, so the chords can be played normally just like the "C" Tuning.
You can tune your ukulele either with a chromatic tuner or by going here.
